Carolina Hurricanes: Max McCormick signs one-year deal

This morning Don Waddell announced the newest signing for the Carolina Hurricanes. Forward Max McCormick, 27 years old, signed a one-year two-way deal. McCormick will make $700,000 at the NHL level with the Hurricanes and $100,00 at the AHL level with the Charlotte Checkers with a $150,000 guarantee.

McCormick was drafted 171st overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2011. Last season, he had 20 points over the course of 45 AHL games split between the Colorado Eagles and Belleville Senators. He also played 14 games with Ottawa and scored one goal.

In a press release about the signing, Waddell had this to say about the newest addition to the Hurricanes, “Max is a hard-nosed forward who has shown a scoring touch and an ability to score at the AHL level.
