The Carolina Hurricanes enjoyed some great times with goaltender Cam Ward manning the nets. However, the acquisition of Scott Darling from the Chicago Blackhawks gives the Canes an entirely new direction to move in.
Ward is now the backup to Darling and is getting a significantly smaller workload than in past years with Eddie Lack being on the roster. It should be a great thing for Carolina to still have Ward on the roster and help Darling get comfortable in goal. He’s also a reliable option to turn to whenever an experienced option is needed.
The decline that Ward has been on for the past few seasons does not seem to be coming to a halt this season.
