Carolina Hurricanes: Grading the Canes’ Trade Deadline Day

There was lots of movement around the NHL on Monday as the league saw one of its most exciting trade deadline days in years. Star players were sent to pastures new, experienced veterans were traded for late picks, and some exciting young talents made their way to the league’s basement teams. One thing that was missing, however, was a big move by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Yesterday we looked at why making no moves was actually the smart play by the General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, Don Waddell. The price for an elite rental was high, and no one player was worth spending the Canes’ 2019 1st round pick plus a top prospect and mid-round pick.
