Getting the Nov. 26 win over the Nashville Predators was a big step for both the Carolina Hurricanes and starting goalie Scott Darling. He shut the door on the Preds in a shootout that locked down the win for the Canes after goals from both Teuvo Teravainen and Sebastian Aho.
Both of Carolina’s goalies started the season with some up and down performances. Cam Ward owned a better save percentage than Darling for a few weeks, but a poor performance on a Nov. 24 home loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs hurt Ward’s stat line.
Head coach Bill Peters should be pushing to have Darling take over the reigns completely between the pipes.
