Getting named a co-captain for the Carolina Hurricanes should have helped defender Justin Faulk take the next step in his career this season. Yet, the other co-captain that head coach Bill Peters named, Jordan Staal, is having a good start so far.
Through 16 games, Faulk has only one goal and three points and is also on the negative side of plus/minus. Considering Faulk was one of the strongest offensive contributors among defensemen for the Canes in recent years, he should come through for them soon.
All of the emerging young players on the Carolina blue line puts Faulk in an interesting situation.
