Losing to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Nov. 28 in a shootout was a turn of the fortunes that the Carolina Hurricanes saw two days before. Carolina defeated the Nashville Predators in a shootout at PNC Arena on Nov. 26. The win over the Jackets, a Metropolitan Division rival, would have helped the Canes gain some points in the standings in the Eastern Conference.

Brock McGinn and Noah Hanifin notched the two goals for the Canes. Hanifin’s goal came in the first period to knot things up at one. Josh Anderson of the Jackets scored the first goal of the game overall, a little more than a minute into the first.
