It’s getting close to decision time for the Carolina Hurricanes, as the 2018 NHL Trade Deadline draws near. On Jan. 23, the Canes were defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins, officially putting them five points behind both wildcard spots in the Eastern Conference (other spot held by the Columbus Blue Jackets).
For general manager Ron Francis and new majority owner Tom Dundon, it’s also time to realize that this fan base is getting very impatient. Missing the playoffs for another two or three consecutive seasons is not really an option if they want to keep this franchise in Raleigh.
