As most of you Caniacs are aware, the hunt for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference is close. So close, in fact, that two teams within our Conference are in a position to compete for one of the two Wildcard spots afforded to the Conference. Within the extremely close Metropolitan Division standings, the Columbus Blue Jackets are hot on the Carolina Hurricanes’ heels at 84 points and 8 games left to play in the season. In the highly competitive Atlantic Division, the Montreal Canadiens currently sit at 87 points with only 7 games left to play, sitting in the final Wildcard spot.
