Winnipeg Jets captain Andrew Ladd has been nominated for the NHL’s Mark Messier Leadership Award.
Ladd will be up against Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews and Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf for the award, which will be presented on June 24 at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas.
Ladd led the Jets with 62 points this season as their captured their first playoff spot since moving to Winnipeg. He’s also active off the ice, involved in Special Olympics and other fundraisers and activities.
Mark Messier himself takes suggestions from club and NHL personnel to compile a list of candidates and then chooses the winner himself.
