WATCH: Backlund’s game-tying goal in final minute overturned after league review

For just a couple of minutes, the Calgary Flames thought they had tied Wednesday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Trailing the Jets 3-2 in the final minute, the Flames pulled goaltender Dan Vladar and went with six skaters for a face-off in the offensive zone.

Even though Flames centre Mikael Backlund lost the draw, Calgary was able to regain the puck after Matthew Tkachuk knocked the Jets’ clearing attempt out of mid-air.

After a few more touches by Milan Lucic, Elias Lindholm, and Tkachuk, the puck found its way back to Backlund at the right circle.
