Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
This week in 1989, the Calgary Flames beat the Vancouver Canucks in round one of the playoffs in thanks to a Joel Otto overtime winner.
In the end it took an incredible amount of everything Calgary Flames could muster- blood, sweat, tears and, yes, even a little bit of luck. The Flames finally put the stubborn Vancouver Canucks out to playoff pasture with a 4-3 overtime victory Saturday night at the Olympic Saddledome in a pressure-cooker seventh game that featured a little bit of everything head-to-head checking, disputes, deflections but mostly deep-down determination by both teams.
