This week in 2013 (Sept. 20), the Calgary Flames named Mark Giordano the 15th captain in franchise history.
Giordano, 30 at the time, had a breakout season in his first campaign with the C scoring 14 goals and 47 points, both career highs at the time. And like a fine wine, Giordano began to age.
Since his appointment as captain his offensive game has flourished as a point producer scoring 93 goals and 333 points in the 508 games since. A true leader in the community, he was awarded the Mark Messier leadership award this past season.
