The Flames 5-3 victory over the Sharks means Calgary will finish atop both the Pacific Division and the Western Conference.

The Flames needed ANY type of win and they would clinch the Pacific Division title, the Western Conference title and home ice advantage throughout the Western Conference Playoffs. And they did just that! The Flames dispatched the San Jose Sharks 5-3 Sunday night and will finish the season as the top dog in the West.

This one started out auspicious as San Jose would get the game’s first marker and take an early 1-0 lead. Timo Meier would collect a loose puck off a Calgary clearing attempt and snipe the top corner, blocker side to beat Mike Smith and just like that the Sharks had a one goal lead.
