Team North America and Russians put on a show

For all their skill and speed and all the third-period dominance on Monday night, the Young Guns misfired.

Well, if you count goal posts and pucks rolling oh-so-close across the crease in a dominant third period that included a wild final minute and a comeback falling just short.

In what was easily the most exciting game of the World Cup of Hockey thus far, Team North America fell 4-3 to a desperate Russian team that needed a win to remain in contention.

By Team North America’s count, they had 81 shots on net with a final shot total of 45-25 in their favour.
