Speculation puts Glen Gulutzan among frontrunners for Calgary Flames head coach spot

When he was named the first GM and head coach of the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers, Glen Gulutzan placed a call to the Saddledome, hammering out an affiliation deal with Darryl Sutter for Sin City to serve as a minor-league outpost for the Calgary Flames.

Thirteen years later, the Flames called Gulutzan.

The current regime in Calgary is searching — yes, still — for a head coach.

There is widespread speculation the 44-year-old Gulutzan — a former bench boss for the Dallas Stars and an assistant for the Vancouver Canucks for the past three seasons — is at the top of their list.
