Given the stunning news Wednesday that Mike Babcock had shunned the Sabres in favour of the Maple Leafs, no one seemed to be more shocked than the Buffalo organization and its loyal fans.
Tweeted former Sabre Matthew Barnaby via his twitter handle @MattBarnaby3636: “They thought 100 percent that they had him! They have to be blown away.”
And not in a good way, according to the Buffalo News. In fact, the publication’s in-the-know hockey scribes suggested the Sabres were “livid,” thinking they were on the verge of signing him.
