Ondrej Pavelec is ready to return from a knee injury, so at least on an interim basis the Winnipeg Jets assigned rookie goalie Connor Hellebuyck to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
Pavelec has been out of action since Nov. 21 after suffering a knee injury in a game against the Arizona Coyotes.
Hellebuyck, meanwhile, has been carrying the load for the Jets since the injury, putting together a record of 13-11-1 with a 2.34 goals against average and .918 save percentage in 26 starts.
As well as Hellebuyck has played, he’s been pulled in two of his past three starts and the Jets ultimately determined that he will best be served by playing.
