Passing up on coaching job allowed Predators' Brent Peterson to getting top-notch Parkinsons' treatment

NASHVILLE — Seventeen years ago Brent Peterson turned down the Calgary Flames head coaching job.

It might have saved his life.

Refusing to take on the assistant coaches that GM Craig Button and ownership wanted to assign him, the former NHLer from Calgary ultimately figured he needed the gig like he needed a hole in his head.

Who could have known his decision to stay in Nashville would lead to having two holes in his head that make him one of the game’s great survivors, and one of the most beloved members of the Predators family.
