Oilers' McDavid calls out Flyers' defenceman Brandon Manning following 6-5 loss in Philly

PHILADELPHIA — On a run ’n’ gun night where the Philadelphia Flyers were celebrating goalies of yore like Bernie Parent and Pete Peeters, we got 11 goals and 64 shots on the ice and one loud blast afterwards at Flyers’ defenceman Brandon Manning from the normally placid Connor McDavid.

Manning had taken McDavid into the end-boards in Edmonton in November of McDavid’s first NHL season and McDavid left with a busted collarbone. It appeared on video that Manning hadn’t had any malice in mind in 2015 but in the first period of the Oilers 6-5 loss Thursday, the two players exchanged shoves and sticks, tugs but no hugs and some impolite verbiage.
