Milan Lucic has waived his no-move clause for the Seattle expansion draft

When Milan Lucic became a Calgary Flame in July 2019, concerns from those following the club immediately moved to the Seattle Kraken’s expansion draft. Would Lucic agree to waive the no-move clause that required him to be protected? What would the Flames do if he didn’t waive?

Well, worry no more: Sportsnet’s Eric Francis has confirmed that Lucic has been asked to waive formally and has done so.

The veteran Flames winger has waived the no-movement clause in his contract for the Seattle Kraken expansion draft this summer.

“As much as I want to stay in Calgary I didn’t want to handcuff Tree (GM Brad Treliving) in the expansion draft so I agreed that I would waive it for the expansion draft if he didn’t want to protect me,” Lucic told Sportsnet.
