It was supposed to be a surprise party.
Except that Calgary-raised defenceman Mathew Dumba wasn't buying it, and that was even before he heard chants of 'Canada, Canada!' as he waited for his luggage Monday at Calgary International Airport.
"They were trying to scheme on me and make up some excuses they wouldn't be able to make it, but I kind of saw through that," said Dumba, a member of Team Canada's golden group at the world hockey championship in Russia.
About two-dozen family members and friends started cheering shortly after learning Dumba's flight was safely on the ground.
