Let’s face it, he was a long shot to win it anyway, but Flames Captain Mark Giordano is NOT one of the three finalists for the Bill Masterton Trophy for 2019-20. The Flames defenceman had a decent resume to be in the discussion, but the three players chosen as finalists always had a much better shot to win it than Giordano.
The Masterton Trophy is awarded to the player in the NHL every season who “best exemplify the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.” While Mark Giordano certainly fits that description, the competition for the award was stiff this season.
