After the big trade on Friday night that saw them become the newest members of the Calgary Flames, Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar were (virtually) introduced to the media on Monday morning.
In addition to Jonathan Huberdeau indicating that he’ll be looking for a new jersey number – so Mikael Backlund can keep #11 – there were a few interesting takeaways from their chat.
Both Huberdeau and Weegar noted that the trade was a surprise to them – and acknowledged their emotional ties to the Florida Panthers organization due to their history there – but both said they’re excited to join the Flames.
