Jake Boltmann debuts for Notre Dame in January

Earlier this month, Calgary Flames prospect Jake Boltmann committed to the University of Notre Dame for his college hockey.

But the quirk is this: it turns out that the 19-year-old Boltmann will join the Fighting Irish immediately, and will make his NCAA debut in early January when Notre Dame faces Arizona State.

Boltmann was a third round pick, 80th overall, by the Flames in October’s NHL Draft – he was acquired with one of the two picks the Flames added by trading down twice in the first round.
