There were lots of choices for the HOTN, but we’re handing it out to someone who got his first marker of the season and that’s Mikael Backlund. Backlund scored a beauty of a goal in the third to give the Flames a 4-1 lead. It started with great passing from Noah Hanifin and then Blake Coleman was able to hit a streaking Backlund. The Flames centre took his time and made a fantastic move to freeze Igor Shesterkin, firing a gorgeous shot to the far top corner. The goal was Backlund’s first of the season and gave he and Coleman multi point nights.
