Home away from home becoming sweet for Islanders

BROOKLYN - It is known as Flatbush, the one-time home of “Dem Bums” — the nickname of the Brooklyn Dodgers before they moved to Los Angeles.

In recent years, it has become known as the new digs of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, who play at the swank Barclays Center.

What Brooklyn has not been known for is hockey.

Until now.

Kind of.

According to the marquee outside the Barclays Center, the Maple Leafs and New York Islanders will play a game here Sunday. This is the new home of the Islanders. Things were so bad at the Nassau Mausoleum out in Uniondale, the Isles this season moved to a building where you can’t see one of the nets from a small chunk of the seats.
