After a tour of hockey’s minor leagues, Dallas Ferguson figured it was time for a real job.

The young lad from Wainwright, Alta. would return to finish his business degree at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, where he had patrolled the blue-line for the NCAA-level Nanooks.

And then?

“I had a plan to potentially get back to Alberta and get into construction management,” Ferguson recalled.

That was more than 15 years ago, and Ferguson is finally back in Alberta as one of the foremen for a construction project of another sort — building the Calgary Hitmen into Western Hockey League and Memorial Cup champions.
