Giordano Named Finalist For NHL Foundation Award

Calgary's captain was not named a finalist for the Norris Trophy, but he'll be headed to Las Vegas in late June anyway.

Mark Giordano was named a finalist for the NHL Foundation Player Award, as revealed on Sportsnet's pre-game festivities last night. San Jose's Brent Burns and the Rangers' Henrik Lindqvist are the other finalists. The award goes annually to a player that more or less exemplifies good citizenship within their community, though it also goes to a high-end player. (It's quite similar to the King Clancy Award in that respect.)

Past winners of the award include Patrice Bergeron, Henrik Zetterberg, Trevor Linden and Jarome Iginla.
