The Memorial Cup focuses a lot on the players — some are future National Hockey League stars, after all — so it's mostly their show, but coaches deserve some of the spotlight, too.

After four straight 50-win seasons with the Erie Otters — the first two of those with Connor McDavid in the Ontario Hockey League team's lineup — one would think the former University of Alberta Golden Bears winger, who was the Canadian world junior team assistant coach last winter, will be coaching in the professional ranks somewhere next season, probably an NHL team's farm club.
