When the Flames were on the clock for the first time at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, they selected Martin Pospisil. What immediately jumped out about Pospisil was his 253 PIM during the 2017-18 season for the Fargo Force of the USHL. At 6’2’’ it looked like the Flames had drafted a goon, but he did have some scoring upside with 37 points in 49 games.
In 2018-19 Pospisil stepped his game up to a new level, racking up 16 goals and 63 points in 44 games while cutting his PIM down to 118.
