Flames goaltending prospect traded to Hitmen

Nick Schneider is still a ways down the Calgary Flames depth chart.

Next winter, the puck-stopping prospect will be just a ways down the hall.

The 19-year-old Schneider was traded Friday in the Western Hockey League, welcomed by the Calgary Hitmen after three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers.

He’ll spend his overage campaign at the Saddledome, the same arena where he’s hoping to eventually earn his paycheques in the flaming C.

“I obviously love playing there, whether it was in Flames camp or when we were playing against the Hitmen in previous years,” Schneider said.
