It’s no secret that Johnny Gaudreau can control the play.
What is becoming more and more apparent is that the Calgary Flames’ wunderkid — named Monday as the NHL’s first star for the month of December — also controls the volume at the Saddledome.
“When he steps on the ice or when he touches the puck, you can just feel the excitement coming out of the crowd. It’s pretty amazing,” said local lad Joe Colborne, a lifelong Flames fan and currently Gaudreau’s right-winger on Calgary’s top line.
“I remember with Iggy, when he had the puck, you could tell everyone was paying a little more attention.
