Flames cut training camp roster down to 41 players

The Calgary Flames have made 10 more cuts to their training camp roster.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Forwards Alex Gallant, Mark Simpson, Eetu Tuulola, and Dmitry Zavgorodniy have been assigned to the Stockton Heat, as have defencemen Yan Kuznetsov and Ilya Solovyov and goaltender Matt Greenfield.
  • Forward Luke Philp and defenceman Colton Poolman have been placed on waivers. If they clear, they’ll also be assigned to the Heat.
  • Defenceman Jérémie Poirier has been assigned to the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs.

While there’s a slight chance Philp could see game action with the Flames in 2021–22, the rest of these players are either career AHLers or prospects with plenty of room to grow before they sniff the NHL.
