Edmonton Oilers GM says winger Anton Slepyshev's ankle injury isn't serious

PENTICTON, B.C. - PENTICTON, B.C. — There's no need for any alarm bells over Anton Slepyshev’s off-season ankle injury.

“It’s not serious. He may miss part of training camp,” said Edmonton Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli, who was made aware the top 9 right-winger had hurt his foot in training, but the Russian forward has already been examined by their medical personnel and there’s nothing major wrong.

Slepyshev had a strong playoff last spring in the Oilers' first trip to the post-season in 11 years, silencing a San Jose crowd with a nifty breakaway goal in the series clinching first-round matchup with the Sharks.
