GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Coyotes have fired long-time general manager Don Maloney, the team confirmed on Monday morning.
Maloney had been with the club as GM since 2007, qualifying for the post-season three times. The most recent appearance was in 2012 when the Coyotes marched all the way to the Western Conference Final before falling to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings.
Arizona missed the playoffs in each of the past four seasons. This year's group surprised in the first half behind 21-year-old Max Domi and 20-year-old Anthony Duclair before eventually falling out of the race in the second half.
