Just as the Edmonton Oilers days ago plucked a potential Flame in Kris Russell, the Flames matched the move by signing Oiler PTO Kris Versteeg to a 1yr/950k contract.
The Flames had room for this deal after sending Linden Vey to Stockton today and Calgary now sits at 263k in cap space.
Versteeg’s signing could mean a lot as he brings depth and skill to the RW position and is a rare right handed shot in the Flames forward lineup.
Versteeg also brings a pedigree that has two Stanley Cups from his time in Chicago and at his height had 23 goals and 31 assists with Florida in 2011-12.
