Calgary Flames netminder Mike Smith will certainly recognize the opposing sweaters.
The opposing skaters, though?
“There’s not that many guys that I actually know,” chuckled Smith, who will be between the pipes for Friday’s exhibition against his longtime employer, the Arizona Coyotes, at the Saddledome. “It will be kind of strange playing against your former team that won’t have a lot of guys that you played with on it.”
It’s not that the 35-year-old Smith has been gone for long — he was traded to Calgary in June after six seasons in the desert.
But this is pre-season, remember, and most of the Coyotes regulars stayed back home.
