Blue Jackets' Tortorella to miss Canadiens series

Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella is expected to miss the team's home-and-home series against the Montreal Canadiens after he suffered two broken ribs in a fall during an outdoor practice last week.

Tortorella broke the ribs in a collision on Friday with Blue Jackets forward Rene Bourque after the player lost his balance skating over a rut in the ice. Tortorella was taken by ambulance from the arena to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, where he was examined and released.

The organization announced that assistant coach Craig Hartsburg will lead the Blue Jackets when they face the Canadiens on Monday night at Nationwide Arena and at Montreal on Tuesday in the final game for each team before the All-Star break.
