At home in the Dome: Johnson gets first start in Calgary as a Flame

Everything about the Scotiabank Saddledome feels natural to Chad Johnson.

From the long walk from the Victoria Park/Stampede C-train station to the recognizable sound of Beesley’s voice to Harvey the Hound, the 30-year-old netminder has been a Calgary Flame long before he was a Calgary Flame.

“As soon as I got on the Saddledome ice I was like, ‘Cool. This is fun,’” Johnson was saying on Saturday as the Flames continued their training camp at WinSport facilities. “I was so comfortable because I’ve done it a million times. When you’re a kid, you visualize and dream of being a Flame and playing in the Saddledome.
