With a late major overhaul in the coaching staff, expectations for this years recruiting class are anything but sky high, so it would be a pleasant surprise if new head coach Justin Wilcox were able to draw a couple recruits to the bay in the eleventh hour.
He recently extended an offer to wide receiver Branden Smith out of Paraclete High School. His other offers were from Fresno State and BYU. As you can see, he wasn’t heavily sought after, but a star ranking isn’t everything.
Smith isn’t rated by the major recruiting services, but at this point, a lot of recruits are off the board, so it is Wilcox’s job to see if he can find any hidden gems.
