Governor Newsom: Sports could return in June, with no fans

California Governor Gavin Newsom spoke at length on Monday, stating that the coronavirus pandemic is finally starting to see dwindling numbers in cases and hospitalizations as the safer-at-home restrictions have begun to pay dividends.

That being said, Newsom also stated that professional sports could return in the first week of June, without fans in attendance.

It would look a lot different than we’re certainly used to, but some sports with no fans is certainly better than the opposite. We’ve seen great success so far with the limited sports that have returned with no fans already, including the most recent weekend of success from the Bundesliga and NASCAR.
