Cal Men’s and Women’s Golf teams to repeat as Big Match champs over Stanford

The “Big Match” is the latest of the Cal vs. Stanford rivalry. Started only in 2018, this coed event have 6 pairs (one men, one women) of players from each school head-to-head in match play format from Menlo Country Club on Wednesday.

One point is awarded for each of the six head-to-head matchups. The score is determined by the lowest scoring member of each pair on each hole. The match is won by the team that wins the most holes.

Last year, it was a 2-2-2 results with 2 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws. Cal’s senior pair of Collin Morikawa and Cindy Oh then teamed (actually, Oh hit birdies on those two holes) to win the two-hole playoffs to give Golden Bears the Big Match victory.
