A recent release of the depth chart for Cal football provides some insight as to who will be fighting for a chance to play for the Bears come early September.
No quarterback has been named the official starter, but redshirt junior Chase Forrest and redshirt sophomore Ross Bowers are both in contention and will battle it out during summer for the starting spot.
It comes as no surprise that last season’s freshman standout Demetris Robertson, one of the team’s most lethal offensive weapons, is one of the first-string wide receivers. He was limited to practice during spring as he competed on the track and field team, but that does not seem to have affected the young receiver’s position on the depth chart.
