Head Coach Justin Wilcox announced to the media on Monday that Cal starting QB Chase Garbers is out for the long-term. He might be able to return before the end of the season.
QB Devon Modster would be the apparent starter going into the Oregon game and the rest of the season. Modster transferred to Cal this past offseason after leaving the UCLA program in 2018. He played one full game for the Bruins, which was a bowl game loss to Kansas State, Modster went 21/34 with 295 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.
