Wildfire burning in Duchesne County destroys several homes

A wildfire burning 2 miles east of the Fruitland community in western Duschene County has destroyed about three or four homes, according to county sheriff’s Chief Deputy Travis Tucker.

Tucker said in a tweet that officials were “getting a handle” on the fire. In the meantime, traffic on U.S. 40 has been impacted in both directions and officials are advising Utahns to avoid the area.

UPDATE: It appears 3 or 4 homes destroyed by the #FruitlandShedFire, per DCSO Chief Deputy Travis Tucker. Firefighters "getting a handle" on fire now, he says.
