Utah safety Marquise Blair was selected in the middle of the NFL draft's second round Friday night, going to the Seattle Seahawks with the No. 47 overall pick.
Ute coach Kyle Whittingham said he had been told that Blair could go that high, although mock drafts had slotted Blair between the third and sixth rounds.
Blair is known as a ferocious hitter. In Utah's scheme that generally uses only two linebackers, Blair often was asked to play inside against the run as a safety. He also showed the ability to cover receivers over the middle and deep down the field.
