Utah Royals FC plays Portland Thorns to 2-2 tie at Rio Tinto Stadium

Sandy • Just eight days ago, the Utah Royals FC prepared to welcome back all six of its players that were away for more than two months competing in the Women’s World Cup. That day finally came Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium against the Portland Thorns.

But with both teams being the closest to full strength since early May, each came away with a point after playing to a 2-2 tie. It was the second time this season a game between Utah and Portland ended in a draw.

When it looked like the Royals were staring at the business end of a three-game losing streak, center back Rachel Corsie found the back of the net in the 90th minute.
