Student leaders unite to condemn the University of Utah’s response to Lauren McCluskey’s murder

Student leaders at the University of Utah have condemned the administration in a public statement — criticizing how it handled fears reported by track-star Lauren McCluskey, denied responsibility after her murder and created an atmosphere where students now worry campus police won’t protect them.

The surprising rebuke comes nearly a year after McCluskey was killed outside her dorm last October. It’s the first time the U.’s student government has put forth such a formal critique, which members say they drafted after reaching a breaking point this week.
