Salt Lake City restaurant is forced to close after health inspectors find cockroaches and ‘shoes next to the rice’

African Restaurant, 1878 S. Redwood Road, in Salt Lake City was forced to close Tuesday after health inspectors found live cockroaches and more than a dozen other health violations.

“There are live cockroaches of varying sizes, including nymphs, in the establishment,” a report posted on the Salt Lake County Health Department website states.

The restaurant will remain closed until the owners can fix the problems and inspectors deem it safe for the public.
