Romney, McAdams criticize Trump for his racist remarks; Silence from Utah’s other members

Washington • Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said Monday that President Donald Trump’s racist attacks on four minority Democratic members of Congress “fell far short” of the sort of unifying rhetoric befitting of the nation’s highest office.

Cautious as they were, Romney’s remarks put him in a growing, though still small, group of Republicans to call out Trump on his comments.

“I certainly feel a number of these new members of Congress have views that are not consistent with my experience and not consistent with building a strong America,” Romney told an NBC News reporter at Logan International Airport in Boston where he was apparently flying out.
